Course description
The run is fairly short, almost exactly 6 km. From the lodge head south
to the 'cat road up the ridge. Follow the ridge. Go below the T bar top
station and follow the ridge to the top of Chair 2. From the gate
at the top of the chair the route is cross country to the next gate at the saddle between
Rendezvous and Mt. Gordon Lyon. The simplest route follows the trail along
the ski area sign line, around the back side of Rendezvous Pk .
At the saddle racers must pass through a second gate where the course
joins the junior race course and heads down the creek on the left side
back to the lodge. There will be a
prime awarded to the first man and
woman in the open and masters divisions to the top of Rendezvous Pk.
(The summit proper is an additional 260 vertical feet above the race
course and a little off route.)
Elite racers will follow the 6km course up the ridge to the top of the
chairlift by Rendezvous Pk. Racers may choose
to go over or around Rendezvous Peak after going through the gate
(Gate1) at the top of Chair 2. Racers may
take any route from Gate 1 to Gate 2 (Gordon Lyon Saddle) There will be
a prime awarded to the first man and
woman in the elite division to the top of Rendezvous Pk. There is an
easy path around Rendezvous Peak to Gordon Lyon saddle (Gate 2). All
racers must go through gates 1 and 2. After passing through Gate
2 the
first time Elite racers proceed down Toklat Ck until they come to the
intersection of the creek trail with the trail on the left that
descends from the top of the chairlift (Gate 3). Elite racers then
return to
Gate 1 via the steep trail beneath the chairlift. Elite
racers again must choose to head to the top of Rendezvous for a second
prime, or take the swift route from Gate 1 to Gate 2 behind Rendezvous
Peak. Racers must go through Gate 2 a second time and follow Toklat Ck
all the way to the base of Chair 2 and then to the finish. The racers
proceed from lodge to Gate 1 (G1) to G2 to G3 to G1 to G2 to finish. We
will try to set the course during the day Friday for those who would
like to preview. Print these race
instructions and preview the course!
