Message from the Chapter President

Greetings from Chapter President Aimee Fish,

    The next Anchorage AMS meeting will feature NWS Alaska Region Director, Laura Furgione with a presentation on NOAA’s National Weather Service.  The meeting will be held on Thursday, April 21, at 10:30 AM in the UAA Aviation Technology Center (2811 Merrill Field Drive, room 245). This, the final meeting of the season, is one you won’t want to miss! We will announce several forecast contest winners – present the Member of the Year Award – and vote on next year’s executive committee. All offices are up for election; consider serving your local chapter by nominating yourself, or another exceptional individual, for President, Vice President, Treasurer, or Secretary. Please submit nominations by close of business Tuesday, 4/19/05 to aimee.fish@noaa.gov

The Anchorage Chapter of the American Meteorological Society was founded in 1941.  The AMS is a professional society dedicated to the development and dissemination of knowledge of the atmosphere and related earth sciences for the advancement of their professional applications.  Our local Chapter provides the community with a social and scientific point of contact for meteorological, hydrological inquiry.
